A'maal-e Ashura

Eve of Aashura -There are several types of prayers and du'as for this night. Some are given below :

1] Pray 100 Rak-a't Namaaz, in every rak-a't after recitation of Soorah Al Faatih'ah recite Soorah Al Ikhlaas 3 Times. After the Namaaz recite the folllowing 70 times :

- Subh'aanallaahi Wal H'amdullillaahi Walaailaaha-Illallaahu Wallahu Akbar -
- Walaa Hawla Walaa Quwwata Illaa Billaaahil A'liyil A'zeem -
- Astagfirullaaha Rabbee Wa Atoobu Ilayh -

2] Recite "Salawaat" as many times as possible

3] Pronounce "La-a'n" to condemn and curse the killers of Imam Hussayn [a.s] as under :

- Allahummal-a'n Qatalatal Hu'sayn Alayhis Salaam -

4] Pray 4 Rak-a't Namaaz, In every Rak-a't after recitation of Soorah Al Faatih'ah recite Soorah An-Naas 10 Times. After Namaaz recite Soorah Al-Ikhlas 100 times.

5] Pray 4 Rak-a't Namaaz, In every Rak-a't after recitation of Soorah Al Faatih'ah recite Soorah Al Ikhlaas 50 Times.

6] Recite Ziyaat of Imam Husain (as)

7] Namaaz-e Shab (Tahajjud Salaat)

Day of Aashura

1] Recite 1000 times Soorah al Ikhlaas

2] Recite 1000 Times:

- Allahummal-a'n Qatalatal Hu'sayn Alayhi Salaam -

3] Recite Ziyarat-e Aminullah of Imam Ali (a.s) [Mafatihul Jinnan Page 350]

4) Recite Ziyarat-e Ashura [Mafatihul Jinnan Page 456]

5) Recite Dua-e Alqama [Mafatihul Jinnan Page 458]

6) Seven Times walk forwards and backwards, each time reciting

- Inna Lillahi Wa Inna Ilaihi Rajion, Ridhan Biqadhahi wa Tasliman Li-amrihi, Inna Lillahi Wa Inna Ilaihi Rajion, Ridhan Biqadhahi wa Tasliman Li-amrihi -

7] Recite Ziyarat-e Ta'aziya [Mafatihul Jinnan Page 291]

8] Pray 4 Rak-a't Namaaz (divided in 2 parts) In 1st Rak-a't of 1st Namaaz Soorah Al-Kafiroon after Soore Alhamd and in 2nd Rak-a't Soore Ikhlas after Soore Alhamd. In 1st Rak-a't of 2nd Namaaz Soorah Al-ahzaab after Soorah Al-hamd and in 2nd Rak-a't Soorah Munafiqoon after Soorah Al-hamd.

Remain completely grief stricken whole day. Abstain form food and water till Asr time if possible. After Asr recite Ziyarate Ta'aziya and consume simple and little food. If possible do not engage yourself in any worldly affairs on this day.

May Allah bestow peace and benedictions upon Sayyid ul-Shuhada, Imam Hussayn and his family and all martyrs of Karbala, And may Allah's be curse on those who oppressed them and martyred them.
